Drafting:
When the project was first introduced the teachers gave us a paper, we wrote three possible ideas that we wanted to write about. From there they guided us as to which one to pick to start writing about. You had to think deeply of different experiences or maybe something you are going through right now. The story you probably least want to talk about is probably the one the teachers will encourage you to write about because they want your voice to be heard. They encourage you to get out of your comfort zone because they want you to write from the heart. Another reason they want you to write the one you least want to write about is because they want to know you’re real story.
Critique:
We went through a total of #5 peer critiques during class. All critiques were done by your classmates the teacher contributed with your story a little, it was your peers that gave you most of the improvements. I remember the first critique was very hard for me because since this was something I have never told someone people were going to read it and know something ao personal about me. I wasn’t ready to have people know this part of me because it was something that I have had hidden from everybody all my life. I liked that we got critiqued often because it gave me different points of views on how to improve my story. If it weren’t for the many feedback I received, my story wouldn’t have turned out the way it did.
Script and Pictures:
Scripting your story was the final step before printing it out and practicing till the day of the night of your performance. Scripting is when you add little signals to your story to help you when you are reading. Each signal would mean a different thing for example bold would mean to say that with emphasis, italics would mean to slow down, you could also put pause to take breathes because once you're up there performing you get overwhelmed. It’s those little cues that will make your performance turn out even better. Honestly, those little cues help you when you’re up there because it might sound silly but sometimes you forget to pause or maybe you want to make a certain movement, it helps with that kind of stuff.
